Fifteen Years of Food

YWCA’s Summer Food Program will begin its 15th year on June 14, 2010. The program’s two meals are sponsored by the State of Ohio Department of Child Nutrition Program and the recreation program is supported by the United Way of Van Wert County. This year we expect even more participation than last year. Monetary donations are appreciated to help offset the cost of supplies and extra staff needed to mentor the 300 plus kids that are expected to participate in the program. This program provides nutritious meals to kids who may not have had a meal during the break from the school’s free lunch program.

The YWCA served 11,956 meals to children in 2009. The YWCA had 286 children register for the Summer Food Program. The 2010 Summer Food Program is as follows:

When: Monday, June 14, 2010 to Friday, August 6, 2010
Time: 8:00am to 1:00pm (Drop off begins at 7:30am)
Cost: No Cost ($15 donation per child is appreciated)
Registration begins Monday, May 3, 2010. Please pick up and drop off registration sheets at the YWCA front desk.
